Role overview
MHP are seeking an experienced public affairs professional who can lead and catalyse the growth of our work in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors.
As a Director at MHP Group, you will:
- Lead the development of a growing energy and infrastructure specialism within an established public affairs team, building upon pre-existing sector strength, clients and credentials
- Provide our clients with first rate strategic counsel and manage the delivery of our service, specialising in, but not exclusively focused on the energy and infrastructure sectors
- Generate and convert new business leads through active networking in the energy and infrastructure sectors, developing compelling proposals and pitching. Support business development for other (generalist) public affairs opportunities
- Leverage and maintain a well-honed political/policy/regulatory/sector network, providing clients with fresh insights on political and policy developments, including from key players within the Labour government
- Develop intellectual property, consulting tools and thought leadership that can be deployed in the delivery of consultancy and in marketing, particularly focused on energy and infrastructure
- Play a leadership role within the public affairs team, managing people, developing our offer, ensuring overall service quality, and taking responsibility for commercial management and success
- Be an ambassador for MHP and our Public Affairs offer, within our multidisciplinary business, the Next 15 group, the wider industry and the energy sector
The successful candidate will:
- Have sector experience and expertise: Demonstrable energy and infrastructure sector experience, gained in-house, or via consultancy, politics, civil service or a think tank
- Have a proven client counsellor: Able to guide a wide range of businesses to achieve their public affairs goals through a modern integrated approach
- Have a record of new business generation: Commercially driven, with the confidence and sector connections to grow a specialist offer, and, ideally, a proven record of commercial delivery
- Have working connectivity, with the new government: An established ability to provide working connectivity across political, civil servant, local and parliamentary stakeholders. Labour connectivity a particular asset
- Be a strategic thinker: Able to think strategically, creatively and engage with complex policy to find public affairs solutions for clients and prospects
- Go the extra mile: A willingness to be fully present in team activities, and to roll up sleeves to help and assist junior team members to deliver for the business and for our clients
- Be an able communicator: Demonstrating strong communication skills in written and oral form, to a wide range of audiences
And in return, we offer:
- Excellent starting salary with annual reviews
- 25 days holiday allowance (+ bank holidays), a day off to celebrate your Birthday, ‘Time4U’ every month and office Christmas closure
- Matched pension contributions (up to 5%)
- Life Assurance
