Role overview
We are looking for an outstanding Senior Account Manager / Account Director to join our Brand and Reputation team as a corporate reputation and crisis communications specialist.
As our Crisis & Risk and reputation advisory offer continues to grow rapidly, we’re interested in candidates who have a strong background leading accounts and project work with a focus on protecting reputation across channels and among complex stakeholders.
A background as a Crisis & Risk specialist is not required, but this person will be used to providing counsel on business-critical issues and navigating challenging landscapes. We are less interested in specific client sectors – it is more important that the candidate is adaptable and able to prioritise within a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
Alongside providing counsel on issues ranging from geopolitics and cyber incidents to recalls and litigation, this individual would be expected to deliver crisis playbooks and simulation exercises with support from the senior team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the UK media landscape and experience working with clients facing intense scrutiny.
MHP’s Crisis & Risk and Reputation Advisory offer sits within the Brand & Reputation practice and this role sits within the corporate and crisis function in the team.
As an SAM/Account Director at MHP Group, you will:
Manage activity on crisis and corporate reputation projects and accounts for clients across a variety of industries
Provide counsel to senior clients (including board and leadership) on business-critical issues
Support function leads to support the rapid growth of the function with marketing and new business
Play a key role on crisis preparedness work, including the development of protocols and playbooks and the design and facilitation of training such as simulations
Work with teams from across the agency to provide a ‘protect’-lens on activity
Run press office functions and support with issues management to help clients and account teams
Identify and respond to opportunities for crisis and reputation management projects across client base
Lead small to medium sized new business pitches and support on bigger pieces
Oversee monitoring and horizon-scanning for clients
Mentor and upskill junior colleagues
You will:
Be ambitious and keen to help grow the crisis and corporate reputation function through networking, marketing and new business activity
Have extensive experience supporting clients during periods of intense scrutiny and advising on business-critical issues
Think ahead: able to act as eyes and ears for clients, helping them anticipate risks to their reputation and proactively identify opportunities for mitigation
Have a strong understanding of the UK media landscape and online channels, including social media – ideally with a strong network of business journalists
Be an excellent team-player, used to navigating fast-paced environments and competing client demands
Be passionate about upskilling and mentoring teams
Be highly organised and able to help keep the busy function on track
